What do the statistics tell us about our community?

This could happen through more neighbourhood meetings and the involvement of more associations, along with more community activities (22.43%). Results also demonstrated that the motive for community members becoming more involved is to improve the community and their society (27.09%).

When assessing the needs of young people in the community, two main proposals emerged: spaces for meet-ups amongst themselves (16.60%) and employment training/ opportunities to work (14.94%).
When asked about problems regarding civic responsibility in the community, 58.02% of the community felt there were problems. Furthermore when asked abut being impacted by the lack of civic responsibility 73.8% said they had suffered particularly regarding problems entailing noise from their neighbours and in the street.

What are the current concerns of the people living in these communities?

Stakeholders working within the area of coexistence within the community have pointed out that many people in the community would like to do volunteering in La Verneda y La Pau. They are looking to volunteer in areas which are already aligned with the knowledge they have and therefore wish to know more about these types of volunteering activities. Furthermore, they suggested encouraging more retired people to volunteer; consequently making them feel more useful. When facing the challenge of participation in these activities, the stakeholders highlighted that it is better to do activities in groups with various teams/ services in the community and that the participation of these activities can always be improved when you understand more about what the needs of the people of the community are.

Moreover, it is necessary to encourage young people to be more autonomous and provide them with resources/ tools which allow them to organize themselves. Young people also need public spaces and the expansion of participatory places where they can meet all together. As well as a place for leisure they need a place of fun/festivities. In spaces for the participation of young people, it was stated that we need to give more importance to those who want to participate and allow them to make decisions. Lastly, those in education also highlighted the need to have more language courses for those who are new to the community.
